Picasso Museum, Spain,
2000
The existing Museum occupied the properties of No. 15, 17 and 19 of Montcada Street and it is the result of successive adaptations made since the 1960s.
The expansion and renovation carried out in 1999 included the incorporation of an area of the ground floor of No. 19, not available until then, and all of the buildings of No. 21 and No. 23. On the ground floor, the linear consolidated gallery, parallel to Montcada Street, plays the role of vertebral axis of all floors in all five houses which, from now on, integrate the Picasso Museum. On the surface that is incorporated on the ground floor, the Conference Room and the Museum Snack Bar are located more broadly with a large opening onto the garden.
The contemporary façades on the rear public space, composed of a private garden and the adjoining square, transform the complex into an island of great importance for the renovation of urban life.
